A Guide to the Mother Goose Parade

Bring your family to the largest parade in San Diego County this Sunday at 1 p.m.

Every year, hundreds of thousands of people watch the annual Mother Goose Parade as it follows its 1.1 mile route down West Main Street in El Cajon. Enjoyed by children and adults alike, this parade celebrates the beginning of the Christmas season on a day that is convenient for families.

In 1947, a businessman by the name of Thomas Wigton Jr. wanted to surprise East County kids with a Christmas gift. He thought of the idea of this parade while driving, and the parade was such a hit, it’s been an annual tradition ever since.

Where: West Main Street in El Cajon. The parade begins at West Main Street and El Cajon Boulevard, travels east on West Main Street and ends at First Street.
