5 Free Yoga Resources in San Diego

An ancient Indian discipline that has been around for more than 5,000 years, yoga is here to stay. Yoga was first introduced to the United States in the early 1900s, but it didn’t hit the spotlight until it was featured on a television show in the 1960s, becoming mainstream in the 1970s.

There are many different types of yoga, which is great, because it opens up the practice to a wide range of people and it gives participators the freedom to pursue the type that is best suited for them. Yoga is often performed to increase strength, flexibility and inner peace, supplying many health benefits to those who practice yoga regularly.

Some health benefits of yoga:

  • Reduces stress
  • Declutters the mind
  • Minimizes muscle tension
  • Enhances muscle strength
  • Improves respiration
  • Increases flexibility
  • Boosts endurance and energy
  • Helps weight loss

Yoga is much more than just a workout – it is a spiritual, mental and physical technique that focuses on breathing and stretching through poses and meditation. Respected and beloved by people all over the world, yoga studios can be found everywhere, from Paris to Tokyo to Rio de Janeiro.

Luckily for us in San Diego, there are dozens (probably hundreds!) of yoga studios and fitness facilities that offer yoga classes.
