San Diego Festival of Science & Engineering
Teach your children about the fun in STEM!
The 10th Annual San Diego Festival of Science and Engineering will be held March 3 through 11, 2018. This 9-day event will feature various STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) programs to engage and inspire children. There will be interactive demonstrations, activities and speakers to encourage today’s students to become tomorrow’s innovators. More than 75,000 children, parents, teachers, industry leaders and community members are expected to attend. Most of the events are free.
The festival begins with its largest event: EXPO Day, which is March 3, 2018, at PETCO Park. It is a free event for the public, where hundreds of community businesses and organizations will provide fun and educational, hands-on exhibits and activities. Some activities to anticipate include: a U.S. Air Force flight simulator,League of Extraordinary Scientists panel and activities, a pre-K STEM zone, a healthy lifestyles area and various stage performances.
STEM in Your Backyard is a year-round series that offers free, hands-on STEM activities for kids. There will be four different STEM in Your Backyard events during the week of the festival that will occur in Logan Heights, San Marcos, South Bay and Lakeside.
International Women’s Day on Thursday, March 8, 2018, will be celebrated with an all-woman STEM panel and a networking opportunity. Girls of all ages are welcome to attend this event to hear from women who are working in the STEM field and learn more about the work they do and how to pursue STEM careers.
The mission of this festival is to help encourage more children to go into high-demand, high-skill and high-earning STEM careers.
